Q: Why hardware? It's way too easy to make music on a computer these days, so easy in fact that there's a lot of lack-luster music leaking out there. I learned to appreciate the warm sound and nuance you get from hardware that you still don't get from software, not to mention that all the knob sliders and buttons are right there for adjustment. I do use a computer to compose and record, but I don't use it in synthesis. There are some negatives, but, I believe, they are far outweighed by the positives. I guess, I like the challenge.
Q: Why so much crap? You can usually tell when an artist has a dominant piece. I try to avoid that by sewing together a lot of tiny obscure pieces, especially components from the 80's and 90's.
Q: What runs this beast? I have a custom built 2U rack server with 4 Xeon Processors and 16GB of RAM that I use to sequence everything and record. And, yes, it runs Microsoft.
Enough questions, here's a close to complete inventory of my rig.
