While many today bend values to chase paper, DJ Jamad’s personal mission is to pass the baton from past to future generations of artists in hopes that they learn to appreciate the foundation of their music. It’s important to Jamad to maintain the connection with music history while ensuring that it continues to evolve. Blending old with new is what DJ Jamad does best, mixing classic and modern R&B, Soul, and Hip-Hop. What sets Jamad apart from other DJ’s is his creative ideology and persistence to create a sound with longevity and without compromise.

His mixes are seasonal, just like his moods. Since 2000, Jamad’s Afromentals Mixtape Series has been attracting masses of loyal listeners seeking an alternative to mainstream Hip-Hop and R&B. Only on Afromentals can you find Slum Village, Loose Ends, Jill Scott, Al B. Sure, Schoolz of Thought, Gangstarr, Marvin Gaye, Brandy, and Steely Dan, all on the same mixtape. As if consistently banging out mix after mix for Afromentals wasn’t enough, DJ Jamad has also produced several other albums and mixtapes including Outskirts: The Unofficial Lost Outkast Remixes, AFROMATIC, and The Red Clay Experiment. Afromentals are a vehicle to cross-promote photographers, illustrators, and other artists like DJ Wreckineyez, Amanda Diva, DJ Gemineye, Tori Alamaze, and Tiffany Paige.

DJ Jamad produces the Afromentals Mixshow, a long-standing weekly radio show airing every Sunday night from Midnight until 2am EST on Sirius Satellite Radio’s Hip Hop Nation (Sirius 40/XM 67). Periodically, he presents Operation Hot Combs (OHC), a one-hour “guest takeover” that airs during the mixshow. These special segments allow artists, producers, and DJs an opportunity to guest host and promote their individual projects and talents while giving listeners a candid view of the featured entertainers and their personal musical interests.
